The Square & Plumb Standard
In framing, "square" means walls meet at perfect 90-degree angles, and "plumb" means they stand perfectly level. At BLU-D, Square & Plumb is more than a construction standard — it's how we live.
In Our Work
Building to code or better, with commitment and craftsmanship. Every wall, every line, and every connection reflects our promise to build it right the first time. Finish contractors will cover our work — we ensure everything underneath is square and plumb.
In Our Relationships
Treating everyone with respect, fairness, and dignity. We serve general contractors who demand accuracy and accountability. We show up, execute, and never require chasing.
In Our Business
Honoring contracts, following through on promises. Licensed for public works, bondable to $6M, OSHA-compliant, and equipped to handle complex submittals, change orders, and project coordination.
In Our Lives
Living with integrity, both on the job site and beyond. When you partner with BLU-D, you can count on us to build it right, finish on time, and stand behind our work — every single time.
The BLU-D Way
The BLU-D Way is our internal commitment to craftsmanship, accountability, and excellence. At the core of this standard is our belief that every structure must be built square and plumb — the foundational measure of true quality framing.
This commitment is carried out through:
- Detailed planning and preparation
- Clear communication with builders and partners
- Consistent, reliable workmanship
- A dedication to delivering every project with integrity
Every wall, every line, and every connection reflects our promise: Be square and plumb in everything we do.
"When you partner with BLU-D, you can count on us to build it right, finish on time, and stand behind our work — every single time."
How We Operate
Three principles shape every bid we write, every wall we frame, and every GC relationship we invest in.
Square & Plumb
Our north star.
Every bid, every wall, every relationship — measured against the same standard. Square & Plumb is more than a quality benchmark. It is a decision filter. If the answer is yes, we do it.
Partner Model
A rising tide lifts all boats.
When BLU-D performs, your project performs — and your client's trust in you grows. We work for shared wins, not transactional ones. The best GC partnerships are built on mutual standards and mutual trust.
Law of the Harvest
That which you sow, you shall also reap.
Doing right by our crew, our GCs, the owners we serve, the communities we build in, and every stakeholder along the way brings honorable rewards. We believe it. We build by it.
Why We Build
What you build — in people, relationships, and places — leaves a mark that outlasts the work.
BLU-D started with a decision. Fifteen years — a master's in Construction Management, an international construction firm presidency, and a near-buyout that fell apart on principle — led founder Benjamin Davis to one question from a trusted friend: "What are you waiting for?"
He launched BLU-D in 2022. Big-D Construction called within weeks with a school bid. Headwaters was next with an elementary school. Alpine Academy Middle School and Hibbard Elementary became the proving ground.
Blu is the Italian spelling of Blue — the first country Ben visited on international business. Centuries-old buildings told the story: what is built with integrity stands for generations. And Earth from space is blue, not green. We believe in the complete picture. Building a company that is Built To Last.
We take a complete view: the people, the materials, the equipment, and the principles. Lose sight of the whole, and you lose sight of what you are building.
"D" honors a Davis family legacy — a grandfather who built a printing company, a father who built vacation homes, and now a commercial framing company built to leave something behind worth keeping. Three generations of business owners who understood: what you build outlasts you.
We intend to honor that.
We frame the places where people work, heal, learn, gather, and worship. That is not ordinary work — and we do not treat it as such.
Our Vision
To build the spaces where life unfolds — where people in communities heal, learn, worship, work, and gather — raising the standard of commercial construction through integrity, expertise, and unwavering commitment to the people and partnerships that make it possible.
"Square and Plumb isn't just how we frame walls — it's how we live. It means honest relationships, principled business practices, and personal integrity."
